Liverpool Philharmonic is one of the UK’s most forward-looking music organisations.

Our organisation encompasses the UK’s oldest continuing professional symphony orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, in which we present more than 250 events each year, as well as an award-winning Learning Programme.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in 1840 by a group of Liverpool music lovers, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra gives over 80 concerts each season in our home, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as well as performances throughout the UK and venues throughout the world. We are proud that we are at the heart of Liverpool’s cultural life.

In addition to the Orchestra, we are proud to include the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and our contemporary music group, Ensemble 10/10 as part of our musical offering. Our Chamber Music Series hosts the world’s finest chamber ensembles and soloists in the splendid setting of St Georges Hall Concert Room.

Liverpool Philharmonic has been working with schools and the community through its orchestral programme since the 1940s, when Sir Malcolm Sargent first introduced a concert series for schools. Today, our Learning Programme offers a range of inspirational lifelong learning opportunities to enjoy and take part in live music making of the highest quality. Flagship programmes include the annual schools’ concerts series reaching 24,000 children, our In Harmony programme providing an intensive, daily music-making programme for over 700 children in Everton, North Liverpool and more than 5,000 workshops and events in community settings for all ages across the City. Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Ensembles are an important part of our work, encompassing the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir, Melody Makers and the Training Choir.

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall attracts world class artists with performances ranging from classical, contemporary, rock, pop, folk, roots, and jazz to comedy, film and spoken word. Music Room provides a small and informal space for local and international artists, promoters, festivals and collaborations, reaching new audiences with a variety of workshops, talks, album launches, tours and gigs. Together our two venues attract audiences of more than 370,000 each year.

hermon-headerA space for the arts, education and therapy has finally blossomed in Oswestry.

hermonI can assure you there is no other like it. You step in from the outside world and into another dimension.

So what is it?

It’s an old welsh chapel designed by the Revd. Thomas Thomas and built in 1862-63. In style it has a classical, three bay Tuscan pilastered facade under overall pediment.

Due to lack if use it was auctioned and sold to it’s new owner Duncan Kerr in 2011 with the intention of running it as an arts centre.

I will be looking at running art exhibitions, gigs, comedy nights, workshops, 1-1 education, groups, talks, seminars and much much more! (Thank god i’m not trying to write this in Twitter)
My main interest is providing this to the community and sustaining a vibrant arts scene for all ages.

Hermon Chapel Arts Centre is kitted out with lighting, a top of the range P.A, stage, can seat up to 150 (people), facilities to record and film all events, loads of places to hide and a licensed bar!

Any one who would like to come and have a look, attend events, hire, start workshops, you name it!
