portsunlightBromborough Folk Club is one of the longest established folk clubs in Merseyside, and possibly in the UK. We have operated from various pubs over 30+ years and have an active and extremely popular club.

Many have supported John Coleman in running the club over the last 30 + years. The current regular co-hosts / residents also include Maurice Purcell, Pam Winship, Steve Barker, Jan Hampson, Phil Chisnall, & John Thackray. Other hosts are invited occasionally to bring a fresh approach. Our resident Shanty Crew, the Port Sunlight Sea Dogs enjoy a popular high profile in Merseyside. Singers’ Night with CAKES!
Mar 1 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

The weekly Ruthin AllStyles Folk & Acoustic Singers Night has become a firm favourite in the music lovers’ calendar, and tonight will be just like any other music night, with just one small difference…

This week all the money raised through the sale of Tea, Coffee and Cakes will be donated to Dementure UK’s Time For a Cuppa appeal in support of their Admiral Nurses scheme.

Dementia can hit any family at any time, sometimes suddenly, quite literally overnight. The Admiral Nurses Scheme is in place to provide support for the victims’ families.

Did you know:

  • There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
  • 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes.
  • 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia.

Admiral Nurses provide the specialist dementia support that families need.

When things get challenging or difficult, our nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families: giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline–it helps families to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.

So this Singers’ Night, let’s do our bit to help

The tea and coffee will be just £1.50 as usual, and there will be cakes available too for a small additional donation.

20161027-5044

As always, please arrive before 8.20pm to register for a floor spot.

Entrance is just £1.50 (including raffle ticket).

Doors 7.30pm, music starts at 8.00pm.

Jon Brindley. An Intimate Concert
Mar 8 @ 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Jon Brindley – a concert not to be missed!

We have a fabulous evening in store from this highly entertaining multi-instrumentalist who has played and sang at venues ranging from piano bars to some of the larger folk festivals; from pubs to band stands; and, inspired by the poet Laurie Lee, he’s toured Europe busking street corners and café terraces.

Exploring the genres of Celtic melodies, blues, contemporary folk, and country rock, Jon will be singing a mixture of covers and original material in his own inimitable style.

You will be left spellbound as he alternates between guitar, accordion and the beautiful old fiddle handed down from his Grandma.

The evening will begin with a round of floor spots by a variety of local singers who will deliver a broad mix of Folk, Blues, R&B and Country, followed by two fabulous 45 minute sets from our guest.

The venue
The function room at The Feathers Inn is ‘seated with tables’, cosy and atmospheric, where performers and audience are ‘up close and personal”. There is a separate, well stocked bar with guest ales. Tea and coffee are available. There is disabled access and plenty of nearby parking. And if you want to stay over, The Feathers also has beautifully appointed rooms available at reasonable prices.

Doors 7.15pm – Music starts at 7.45pm

Because we are a non profit club, we have capped the tickets at just £8 in advance, or £10 on the door.

However, because we are limited to 50 tickets, be sure to secure yours before they sell out.

(Regular members can purchase their concessionary rate tickets on a Thursday evening at The Feathers)
