eHeart transplant
Last night I had the privilege to be present during a heart transplant operation. We knew it had been failing for a while. Last night it gave out completely but luckily a donor had been found.
I watched in fascination as Dr Isaac carefully removed the old heart and skilfully attached and connected up the donor heart.
We held our breath as Phenom QuadCore (we like to call her Penny) was taken off by-pass. Within no time, the new heart gave an arrhythmic whirr and started pumping 5 volts through Penny’s veins.
Her screens lit up and thankfully it seems her memory is unaffected. Dr Isaac told us that following a short stay in I.T.U. – well, I.T. actually) there is no reason why Penny shouldn’t go on to lead a normal productive life.
The family are eternally grateful to the donor who had recently died in a hard disk crash.
